Choose Your View

People love to talk about how much their job sucks. A timely example was today from Chogeys United and his post was titled “Jobs Worse Than Yours.”

His title sums up most of the workforce today… work sucks! I disagree that work isn’t fun but that really depends on your view. Are you working just for a paycheck? For your passion? For a temporary stint? Whatever your reason, you get to choose how you view your job and its tasks.

While this blogger saw a walking Starbucks salesman as a horrible task, I saw it as a great way to market your product. I envisioned a Starbucks manager wanting to gain extra sales or give out samples of a new product to prospects that may not be customers.

I admit I see most things through the lens of building a business, not showing up to follow the orders of the boss. Poking fun of business is a popular and profitable area, but the fact remains most of us still have to work to pay the bills. If you have to work each day, you might as well find the brightspot. And if you’re a manager you need to explain to how a task helps grow the business. This walking coffee dispenser could really help, but as Chogey shows us… it’s the view of the task that matters.
