In school it's somewhat bi-polar: there are "popular" people, right, those are just like "cool bloggers", and there also are "cool outsiders". The latter do not have much people around, but almost as popular as "populars" are. I didn't see anything like that in blogosphere. Probably I didn't look carefully enough. :) And there's one more common thing of blogs and school you didn't mention: "losers" form their own small "clubs" and hang around together. They are usually just real friends. And there's the same shit here: when you start blogging you link to a few people you know beyond blogs, and so do they.
