Chili’s Is Firm But Fun

As promised, I’ll try to keep posting fun things businesses are doing each Friday. Most of us ignore parking signs threatening to tow our cars. I really liked this Chili’s sign because they do need to keep spaces for carry out customers, but they have a little fun with their firm message.

I’ve seen some comments on Flickr saying this messaging would turn some people off, but I think the turnoff should be an organization being serious at all times. Kudos to Chili’s.

I worked in a building that had a sign "Violators will be towed" and I never once saw anybody towed. There's no way management has all cars memorized and they will not risk losing customers for a silly towing policy. So if you know up front that you won't risk pissing off a customer by towing them, then don't post the sign. Or, do what Chili's did and make light of it. Good stuff.
  • Mike- thanks for the comment and you're dead-on. Don't threaten if you won't enforce and why threaten when you can at least have a little fun and get your point across.
